Performance Comparison of RAKE and Hypothesis Feedback Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Techniques for Underwater Communication Applications

چکیده
Direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) techniques for low probability of intercept (LPI) and multi-user communications applications for underwater acoustic communications are investigated. Two promising receivers, a RAKE based receiver and a hypothesis-feedback equalization based architecture are considered. The performance of the proposed receiver structures are compared based on simulations and also actual field test data.

Study on the Structure of an Efficient Receiver for Covert Underwater Communication Using Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum
This paper proposes an underwater communication receive model based on the spread spectrum technique in order to provide the characteristic of a low probability of interception. To do this, turbo equalization techniques employing Bahl-Cocke-Jelinek-Raviv (BCJR) decoding to improve performance through repetition are applied to offer excellent performance even at a low signal to noise ratio (SNR)...

This work proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter with high transmission range and efficiency for audio signals. It is shown that by choosing high process gain for spread spectrum signal the data could reach a range of 55km in the 2.4GHz ISM band. By employing a light modulation scheme, we have a relaxed SNR requirement for having a low bit error rate (BER) which translates to re...
متن کاملFrequency-Domain Pre-Equalization for Multicode Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Signal Transmission
Severe frequency-selective fading, encountered in a broadband wireless mobile communication, significantly degrades the bit error rate (BER) performance of direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signal transmission with rake combining. In this paper, frequency-domain pre-equalization transmission, called pre-FDE transmission, is presented for orthogonal multicode DSSS signal transmission. It is...

Multiuser underwater acoustic communication is one of the enabling technologies for the autonomous ocean-sampling network (AOSN). Multiuser communication allows vehicles, moorings, and bottom instruments to interact without human intervention to perform adaptive sampling tasks. In addition, multiuser communication may be used to send data from many autonomous users to one buoy with RF communica...

The technology of Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) has been chosen for mobile communication systems because of numerous advantages. A major advantage is that it can provide a better capacity compared to the other possible technologies of multiple access [1]. In a spread spectrum system, the signal bandwidth is increased to a value much larger than is needed to transmit th...
